Italian sausage and peppers is one of my husband’s favorite meals. I probably don’t make it as often as I should. But when I found a great deal on bell peppers at Sam’s Club, I knew I had to use them to make this dish.
Once fully cooked, you can freeze the sausage and peppers in a plastic freezer bag. You can eat them just as they are, served in sub rolls, or tossed with spaghetti, which is what I usually prefer to serve.
Italian Sausage & Peppers
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 pkg. Italian sausage
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 bell peppers, sliced (You can use any color that you want, but I recommend using 3 different colors.)
- 4 cloves garlic, diced
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet, prefferably one with high sides. Add sausages and brown on all sides, about 3-5 minutes per side
- Add onion, peppers, garlic and seasonings. Stir to incorporate and cook for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low, cover skillet and continue cooking until sausages are fully cooked.
