This policy describes information used to operate Stolen Moments Cooking at stolenmomentscooking.com. To ask a question or make a privacy request, use our Contact page to reach the site administrator.
Cookies & Privacy Choices explains the cookies and analytics this site uses and how to manage them in your browser. Reading recipes and using the essential site features does not require signing up for a newsletter.

Information you choose to provide
- Contact messages: the name, email address, topic, and message you submit, plus the submission time. Messages are stored in an administrator-only inbox so your request can be reviewed. An email notification points the administrator to that inbox rather than including the message body. Subsequent replies may be handled by email.
- Reader photos: the photograph, display name, caption, related recipe, and submission time. Submissions require permission to publish and remain private until an editor approves them. Approved images, names, and captions become public. Images are decoded and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata, but information visible in the photograph itself remains visible.
- Weekly polls: your selected answer, poll week, submission time, and keyed hashes derived from your connection’s IP address and a randomly generated browser identifier. The poll’s vote table does not store the raw IP address. These hashes limit duplicate votes, including votes from people sharing one internet connection.
Please do not send passwords, payment details, identification documents, or unnecessary sensitive information. Public comments and visitor registration are currently disabled.
Information saved in your browser
Recipe Box favorites, recently viewed recipes, shopping selections, and personal cooking notes use local browser storage. The theme does not send these saved lists or notes to us, and they do not sync across devices. They remain in the current browser profile until removed or its storage is cleared. Other people sharing the profile can read them. If storage is unavailable, tools may retain temporary choices only while the current page is open.
Polls store a random browser identifier and local voting reminders. The identifier is sent when you vote so the site can create a duplicate-prevention hash. Cookie and privacy choices are stored separately to remember your preference. See the cookie policy for storage details.
Technical information and security
Like most websites, the server receives request information such as IP address, page address, browser information, and time. Access and error logs support delivery, troubleshooting, and security. Contact forms, photos, and polls use short-lived hashed connection-based counters to limit abuse. These security measures are separate from optional visitor analytics.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics and Clicky run on every page. They can receive page views and interaction information, referral information, browser/device details, identifiers, and network information. The Clicky integration is cookie-free and does not send signed-in account names or email addresses. Earlier site configurations may have processed different information, and records already collected are not erased by later configuration changes.
WP Recipe Maker’s analytics can record recipe interactions, a visitor identifier, IP address, browser user-agent information, and time in the site’s database. Recipe viewing, ingredient lists, and cooking tools do not depend on it.
For provider practices, see Google’s information about partner sites and Clicky’s Privacy Policy. Provider account settings and provider retention rules also affect information they hold; the site’s local cleanup does not automatically erase their records.
Advertising, affiliate links, and outside services
Mediavine advertising is not currently enabled on this website. If it is introduced, its required publisher privacy language and appropriate advertising consent controls must be added before advertising starts. The site’s analytics choices are not a Mediavine advertising-consent platform.
Some archive articles contain affiliate-tagged retailer links. If you follow a link to a retailer, Pinterest, or another outside service, that service receives the information associated with your visit and applies its own policies. See our Disclosures. Your browser or operating system also supplies optional speech features; a selected voice may rely on that provider’s services.
Why information is used and who can receive it
Information is used to deliver requested tools, respond to messages and privacy requests, moderate contributions, prevent abuse, maintain the site, and, if allowed, understand its use. Restricted records are available to authorized site administrators; editors can review reader photos. Hosting, email, image-processing, security, and analytics providers may process information needed to supply their services. Approved reader contributions are visible to the public.
Where a legal basis is required, site measurement and analytics rely on appropriate operational interests where permitted. Handling a request or supplying a feature uses the information necessary for that purpose; site security and administration rely on appropriate operational interests where permitted. Information may also be handled where required by a legal obligation. Providers may process information in countries other than your own; their policies describe their processing arrangements.
How long information is kept
- Contact inbox: messages are scheduled for deletion after 90 days. Email replies and correspondence are separate from this automatic cleanup.
- Unreviewed reader photos: scheduled for deletion after 30 days. Approved submissions remain published until removed. Other people or services may retain copies of previously public images.
- Poll records and their hashes: scheduled for deletion after 90 days.
- Local WP Recipe Maker analytics: configured for 90-day retention.
- Abuse-control counters: expire after their short rate-limit windows and are removed by scheduled cleanup.
- Server access/error logs: configured for daily rotation with 14 retained rotations.
- Browser storage: local recipe data and poll reminders remain until removed or cleared.
WordPress cleanup depends on its scheduled tasks running and may be delayed when the site has no traffic. Restricted recovery backups can contain older records until those backups are replaced or deleted. Deleting a live record does not erase an independently retained email or a third party’s copy.
Your choices and requests
This site does not currently provide an on-page analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics everywhere with Google’s opt-out browser add-on, or block or clear analytics scripts and cookies in your browser. Those controls cover this site’s analytics, not every external service you may visit, and they affect future collection rather than acting as a deletion request.
You can also clear your browser’s cookies and local storage, although doing so removes saved recipe tools and preferences. Depending on where you live and the rules that apply, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of information, object to or restrict its use, withdraw consent, or complain to a relevant supervisory authority. Send a privacy request with enough information to locate the record. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information before acting. If you disagree with a response, you can use the same form to request another review.
Children and sensitive information
The site’s contribution and contact tools are not intended to collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information can contact the administrator to request review and removal. Avoid including other people’s personal details in photos or messages.
Changes to this policy
Changes will be published here with an updated date. Material changes to optional tracking should be accompanied by updated choices before the new tracking is enabled. For questions, contact the site administrator.
