Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening or butter

Filling:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon each salt pepper, paprika

Biscuit Topping:

  • 1 1/4 cups Homemade Bisquick Mix
  • 1/3 cup 2% milk
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Make the Homemade Bisquick Mix by stirring together the flour, baking powder, salt, and shortening until crumbly. Set aside.
  • Brown ground beef with onions and bell pepper in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain excess grease.
  • Return to skillet and stir in garlic, 1 cup cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings until combined.
  • Transfer mixture to a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk, and vegetable oil together. Drop over filling.
  • Bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes until biscuits are golden.
  • Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and bake 2-3 minutes more.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
