I spent quite a lot of time last year bulk cooking and stocking our freezer full of baked goodies for after Jill was born. That was on top of regular baking I did throughout the week. So needless to say, I spent a lot of sunny days sweating in my sweltering kitchen.
This summer, I am determined to not turn the oven on unless absolutely neccesary. So I’ve decided one way to ensure my success in that endevour is to do as much baking as I can ahead of time. Since our love of home-baked bread doesn’t go away on a hot day, I’m thinking that might be a good idea to focus on. My experience with freezing homemade bread has always been good. While I’ll admit nothing can compare to that fresh-out-of-the-oven first slice, the overall experience is just as good as fresh.
Just in case you might also want to sneak in a baking day or two before the heat really hits, here are some of my favorite bread recipes.
