I was a very reflective child and I relished moments spent by myself. I could sit alone for hours on end just thinking or reading or writing. One of my favorite places to spend that time was in a large cloth swing at our summer home.
I remember very vividly crawling into that cocoon-like swing with a bowl of freshly picked berries from anearby u-pick farm. Usually I also had a book in hand. There I’d sit getting lost in the pages while happily snacking away. It was pure bliss.
These days, that swing is long gone but my desire for that little bit of me time is still as strong as ever. With four kids and one on the way, it’s definitely not as easy to find as it used to be. But I try to take at least a few minutes for myself every day. Fortunately it’s usually pretty easy when I take advantage of my stolen moments method in the kitchen. Knowing that I don’t have dinner prep hanging over my head all day definitely makes it a little easier to relax when the moment presents itself.
However, I’ll admit that even with that, my “me time” never looks quite like what I envision it should be. In fact, most days my me time is spent with four kiddos in close proximity. I’ve come to realize that I don’t need to physically remove myself (although that would be nice!) in order to feel the benefits of a little time to myself.
Instead, I surround myself with my favorite things – a cup of coffee, a book or notebook, and a Milano cookie (or four). I indulge in my treat, let my mind wander and just enjoy the moment. As long as the kids continue playing or keep working on whatever activity, I can easily take time to myself in the same room. It’s the little things like that that really help me relax and recharge.
I believe we all should be able to have at least one moment a day like that. It doesn’t need to be elaborate, or even alone, to be relaxing and me-centered.
The folks at Pepperidge Farm agree. They are encouraging us all to savor a Milano Moment. With their newly-introduced Strawberry Milanos now on the shelves, that little moment has become even more delicious!
What does your Moment look like? Is it like mine – stealthily stolen among the playing of children? Or is it more elaborate – maybe a nightly bubble bath (with a cookie in hand, of course)? Hop on over to Pepperidge Farm’s Milano Facebook page and share your Milano Moment. You’ll be entered to win a bushel full of Strawberry Milano cookies just for sharing.
And let me tell you, those Strawberry Milanos are heavenly! The cookies are still the crisp, melty, chocolate-y goodness we’ve all come to love infused with a sweet layer of strawberry flavor. Think chocolate-covered strawberry meets cookie. Want to try them out for yourself? Then make sure you print out this coupon for $0.55 off a package of Milano cookies.
In addition to sharing your moment on the Facebook page, I’d love to hear about it too! Am I the only one that “escapes” in a full house?
