Foodie Fave Five with Finding Joy in My Kitchen

I love seeing healthy eating made to look amazingly delicious and easy to tackle. I think that’s part of the reason why I’ve always enjoyed scrolling through the pages of Finding Joy in My Kitchen. SnoWhite’s easy writing voice makes the reader feel like they are in the kitchen with her, preparing simple, scrumptious, healthy and homemade fare.

I have been following Finding Joy in My Kitchen since the beginning. We began our food blogs at roughly the same time, so it’s been fun to watch the ways we’ve both grown as bloggers and as foodies. I have enough experience with SnoWhite’s recipes to say that I guarantee you’ll find something you like over there!

Here are 5 of SnoWhite’s favorite recipes:

(1) Berry Baked Oatmeal

(2)  Grilled Pizza

(3) Spiced Country Applesauce

(4) Whole Wheat Crackers

(5) Ice Cream Cake

BIO: Hi, I’m SnoWhite, affectionately given this name by my husband, the Frog Price, because of my love of all things house and home.  I grew up with family who loved to cook and bake, but it wasn’t until I started graduate school that I really found a passion for cooking.  I loved being able to come home from working on my PhD research and create something successful and healthy in the kitchen… so cooking became a therapy for me as my husband and I went through graduate school.  Other than learning a bit from my mom and grandma’s growing up, I’m a self-taught cook.  We love cooking with simple ingredients that we have on hand to make delicious and healthy meals!  We’re moving into our first home in just a few weeks, and I’m looking forward to having a kitchen with more than 3 feet of counter space!  When we’re not in the kitchen, Frog Prince and I love to play games, go for walks or hang out with our friends.

2.  French Bouillabaisse

3.  Heavenly Shrimp Cocktail

4.  Banana Blossom Duck Salad

5.  Coconut Chicken Skewers with Kafir Lime Leaves

Bio:  I am Lauren and I LOVE to eat and cook.  Growing up in a large family, we always had parties and gatherings for family members and friends and entertaining was in my blood.  Cooking became more than just a hobby, it was an obsession.  In college, I looked into applying to Cuisinary Schools but because they were all out of state, it never came to fruit.  I perused every cooking magazines and cookbooks I can find and am always experimenting with new recipes and ideas.

Other than Asian cooking which naturally I am a part of, I love to try other cultures’ food including Italian, Mexican and French.  I also love to arrange flowers and experiment with food design. My blog Delicate Flavors is about International Party Food to share my love for food, cooking, entertaining and design.

Other than cooking, I also love animals.  I have 2 Pomeranian fur babies name Kobe (named after LA Lakers Kobe Bryant) and Kiki.  They are in every sense my own kids and they also eat home cooked food only.  Kobe is 8 1/2 and Kiki is 10 and they are my precious little ones.  I can’t imagine life without them.  :)

Foodie Fave Five with The Sweets Life

Does the name of a blog ever intrigue and excite you from the moment you first see it? That’s how it was for me with The Sweets Life. It just conjures up images of all kinds of good things, doesn’t it? And Natalie’s blog absolutely does not disappoint in living up to its name.

Filled with delicious and doable (yet borderline gourmet) recipes, The Sweets Life has a little bit of something for everyone. The tag line states “recipes and pictures of our sweet (and savory) eats.” Every visit is sure to include a great recipe accompanied by some truly fantastic photos. Stop by as soon as you get a chance to see what I’m talking about!

Panzanella Caprese –This salad is perfect for summer bbqs or a light dinner!

Bulgur Salad with Citrus, Toasted Almonds, Feta, & Spinach–I didn’t realize how versatile bulgur could be until I started combining it with different flavor combinations. This was one of my favorites!

Best Ever Homemade Granola–I have yet to find a better granola, store bought or homemade, that tops this one!

Margarita Ice Cream Pie–Combining your cocktail with dessert? Doesn’t get much better than this!

Raspberry Amaretto Trifle–This dessert never fails to impress!

About Natalie: I’m a 20-something gal who was convinced her husband would do most of the cooking once they got married. Instead, I discovered my love for cooking and baking and spend lots of time in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for us and treats to share! When a running injury kept me antsy and bored, my husband convinced me to start The Sweets Life as a way to keep me busy. I’ve since recovered and returned to running (good thing, for all the desserts I showcase on my blog!), but have come to love discovering and sharing recipes through blogging!
