I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again – I am a complete and total coffee fiend. I drink it strong, black and in copious amounts. Anyone that has spent any time with me can attest to that fact. I have a coffee cup in my hand from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. And often, I fall asleep with a half-full cup of coffee next to me. Yes, I know I have issues.
In addition to my coffee habit, I’m also a dessert fiend. Eric and I have a small dessert together every night after the kids are in bed and the house is quiet. You better believe that that treat is always accompanied by a cup of coffee too. So, you can imagine what a huge fan I am of coffee flavored ice creams.
When Eric and I recently sampled two varieties of Starbucks ice cream, the only issues we had were deciding which of the amazing flavors we’d try and how we’d stop eating after just one scoop. Since I only ever get plain, straight up coffees at Starbucks, I opted for one of the drinks on the menu that has always piqued my interest – Caramel Macchiato. My reasoning behind always sticking with plain coffee is that I’d rather save my calories for food than to indulge in “liquid calories.” But ice cream? That’s not liquid calories, so all bets are off!
I loved each spoonful of my Caramel Macchiato and Eric felt the same with his Mocha Frappucino. We debated making one of the amazing sounding recipes on the Starbucks Ice Cream website with our ice cream, but ultimately decided we were more than thrilled just eating our ice cream exactly the way it was. We’ll probably experiment a little more next time though.
Have you tried this ice cream yet? What did you think of it? I’d love to hear! And on a side note, I’d also LOVE to hear what your coffee habits are like!
