Choose Your Own “1/3 Less” Adventure

If you’re anything like me, you spend a lot of time thinking about ways to mix things up in the kitchen. From the cost of monthly groceries to the amount of time spent in the kitchen to the amount of fat in our meals, there’s always something I think would benefit from a bit of a shake-up. So when I was approached to partner with Kraft for the “1/3 Less” Challenge, I jumped at the chance because reducing by 1/3 in some way in the kitchen sounds like a great way to mix things up.

There are several ways that I’m going to experiment with for going “1/3 Less.” One of my favorites will be using Kraft 2% Milk Singles with 1/3 Less Fat* in our meals and snacks. Here are the areas where I’ll be reducing and changing things up in the kitchen:

  • 1/3 less time spent in the kitchen
  • 1/3 less breakfast time rush
  • 1/3 fewer dishes to wash at the end of the day
  • 1/3 less fat in our meals (including using Kraft 2% Milk Singles)
  • 1/3 less white flour in our baked (to be replaced with whole wheat)
  • 1/3 less money spent on groceries
  • 1/3 less leftovers (ie. wasted food, not planned-overs)
  • 1/3 less starchy sides (to be replaced with more veggies and fruits)

As you can see, that is 8 “1/3 less” areas that I intend to tackle. But the good news is that I have a month to work through these steps. That’s two areas to reduce each week and at the end of the month, I’ll decide which ones to keep moving forward. Ideally, I’ll continue to incorporate each one.

So who’s with me? You can choose any one of the above items, or several of them, or go all out and tackle all 8 with me throughout the month. Or hey, choose something else that you need to reduce by 1/3 in your life. It’s your adventure, so you choose!

Throughout the month, I’ll continue posting as usual, including tips, ideas and information on how I’m incorporating the 2 “1/3 less” areas for the week into my kitchen. Each week, I’ll post a “1/3 Less” Challenge update where we can all share about how our efforts to reduce are going.

  1. I’m working on getting rid of clutter. Don’t have much but it’s always good to simplify! Also, I am working on learning new gluten free recipes so i plan to try a new recipe every week.
