Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

Last Updated on

One of my favorite breakfast treats is chocolate chip coffee cake. My mom used to buy one on special occasions when I was growing up. She bought them from a wonderful bakery and I have yet to find another coffee cake to compare. Fortunately, she knows how much I love that coffee cake and she usually buys one whenever we visit.

Since I can’t have my favorite coffee cake more often, this one is a great substitute! It is moist and dense, yet still light at the same time. It all depends on the bite you take.

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Grease a 13×9 casserole dish and preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes, until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • If desired, melt the remaining 1/4 c. chocolate chips in a small bowl in the microwave and drizzle over cooled coffee cake.
